Check in With Your Breath

Place one hand on your heart and the other hand on your belly. Start to bring awareness to your breath. As you breathe, which hand is rising and falling more? The hand on your belly or the hand on your heart? Simply bring a loving awareness to your inhales and exhales without thinking too hard about what you “should” be doing.

Now, as you inhale, allow your belly to fill up with air. When you exhale, the belly will slowly lower back down. Continue breathing just like that for a couple of cycles. This is called “belly breath!” Hey, you’re doing a really good job.

4-7-8 Breathing Technique

THIS is one of my favorite tools of all time. It’s created by Dr. Andrew Weil and is life changing. Here’s how to do it:

  • Breathe in your nose for 4 counts (fill your belly up with air!)
  • Hold your breath still for 7 counts – relax your shoulders ;)
  • Release your breath slowly out your mouth for 8 counts – ahhhhh
  • Repeat for 4 more cycles or as many times as you need

You can use this breathing technique anytime you feel stressed, before you walk into work, have a tough conversation, feel triggered/anxious/depressed/you name it!

Your breath is always here to come back to.

You Are Enough

I hope this tip helps you feel amazing! It’s crazy how the simple things can be so powerful.

Friendly reminder: You are enough and you have everything you need to pour into yourself the way you so kindly pour into others! Keep breathing. Keep being you. And keep doing your best. I see you!!
