For a quick stress reliever, place one hand on your heart and the other hand on your belly. Relax your shoulders as you breathe in through your nose. See if you can fill your belly up with air as you inhale! Then, exhale and release all your air out through your mouth. You are doing a really good job.

With my mind rooted in self-love, I stopped dieting and started embracing healing foods I love. I stopped doing workouts that made me miserable and started moving my body in ways that felt good. Instead of judging myself in the mirror, I started smiling at that kind soul looking back at me. And you know what? My acne cleared, my gut issues resolved, and my headaches went away. I was stunned.

One day, I simply woke up and decided that enough was enough. I couldn’t survive in that toxic mental place anymore, and I didn’t want to! I decided that I was worthy of love and worthy of living a richly fulfilling life, even if my acne never went away. Shifting to this new mentality took practice, reminders, and work, but eventually, something miraculous happened…

I hit my lowest point while finishing my Bachelor in Kinesiology from The University of Texas at Austin. I was dealing with acne and gut issues, adrenal fatigue, food intolerance, and chronic headaches. (sounds fun, right?) I was also teaching group fitness classes — and felt like such a fraud! How could I help others with their health when I couldn’t even fix my own? 

My late college years were the hardest years of my life, my cystic acne became so bad that it impacted every area of my life. I felt sick to my stomach when I looked in the mirror. I would show up late to events and leave early — if I made it out of the house at all. I felt ugly, worthless, depressed, and deeply insecure. 

I know your breakthrough is on the horizon because, I’ve been right where you are. Exhausted, frustrated, and tired of waking up everyday hating myself. I’ve had the life sucked out of me trying rigid workout plans and diets. 

I believe with every fiber of my being that the future of fitness is individual and human. It won’t be about strict or trendy diets. It won’t be about impossible workouts or trying to achieve someone else’s body. It will be about discovering YOUR healthiest body and what makes YOU feel good from the inside out.
