Why I Do What I Do (Going beyond Body Image & Weight Loss)

the fit flamingo blog

The way I see it, this brand and business is my way of showing up and serving the world.

And let me tell you, I am so eager and ready to show up and serve.

I was born to create this brand.

Here’s how I know this:

All week long, I have been googling and researching ways to grow my business. I believe so passionately in the work I do and I want to share my message with as many women as possible.

My message is this: You are enough.

That’s it. That’s at the heart of every single thing I create.

I want women young and old and know and believe that they are enough.

Why?

Because we as women are so powerful.

We have the opportunity to impact our families and our communities in profound ways. When we give ourselves permission to shine, we also give other women permission to shine.

When we believe that we are enough we are able to heal from trauma, overcome great adversity, live out our dreams and empower others to do the same.

So with that in mind, I wanted to create a business within the fitness industry — an industry that is typically all about weight loss, diets, and body image — and instead of following suite, I wanted to help women prioritize how they feel on the inside and not just what they look like on the outside.

Most often, the fitness industry will sell you an image of what you should or could look like if you followed a particular program.

But not here.

I will not sell you an image of what you should look like.

Instead, I want to teach you how to heal from the inside out, how to love yourself (and your body) from the inside out, and how to feel confident in your own skin - not simply because you like how you look but more so because you’re really proud of who you are.

As a personal trainer and nutrition coach, I have seen how heartbreaking the world of fitness can be.

Most of us go to the gym because we want to lose weight or change the way we look. All our lives, we as women have been told the same narrative over and over — that we are only as good as our bodies.

But I believe we are so much more.

Here’s where I get emotional:

Yesterday I was researching top SEO keywords related to the fitness industry so that I could enhance the wording on my website and get my message into the hands of more women.

These were some of the most searched for keywords & phrases:

“how to lose weight”
“meal plan for extreme weight loss”
“how to lose weight fast”
“weight loss programs”
“how to lose belly fat in a week”
“quick weight loss”

Friends.

My eyes are filled with tears and I want you to know this…

You are so much more than your body.

In the words of my all time favorite speaker, Lisa Nichols:

“You woke up enough, you’re brilliant enough, smart enough, beautiful enough and you’re amazing. You are an unrepeatable miracle.”

Friend, no number on a scale could ever change this.

So today, I want you to encourage you to be open and willing to thinking about your body in a new way.

How can you shift your perspective towards how you look? How can you start to tune into how you feel? How can you be kinder and more gracious to yourself as you move through life?

Achieving the dream body is not the big main goal of life.

You were put on this earth for a purpose. I encourage you to live in pursuit of that purpose, going beyond that which is physical and desiring to impact us all on a soul level.

You have this power within you.

So go and create and dance and do and dream and aspire to be all that you were created to be.

Because you are already enough.

You are brilliant enough. Smart enough. Beautiful enough.

You are an unrepeatable miracle.

With all the love in my heart,
Your trainer - Madison.
